I am a professional editor with formal training in grammar and style. I am a former managing editor of an academic journal, and my CV is available upon request. I am currently in my final semester of a master's degree at Carleton, and I have already been recruited to edit for a major newspaper upon graduation.
I have experience editing academic work, including theses and dissertations, but I'm equally comfortable with fiction, blog posts, and freelance articles. I have a background in science, so technical and jargony writing doesn't scare me! If you are a corporation with a website that needs attention, I can help you clean it up. Nothing scares away customers like a website that uses halphazard capitalization and confuses "your" and "you're." (No undergraduate or high school essays, please! Do your own homework!) I charge $30/hour for copy-editing only and $35/hour for copy-editing + significant editorial advice on structure, argument, etc. I normally edit at a rate of 1-4 minutes/page. It varies according to the subject matter and the sloppiness of the original work. Don't worry about your work getting shredded to pieces.
