Description
I was born in Manitoba in 1977 and grew up thirty miles Northwest of Winnipeg in a small farming community. Though I have traveled all over the world and enjoyed experiences in many different cultures I still consider myself a simple prairie girl. When I was ten my dad bought his first SLR camera and started practising portrait photography on me and my brothers. He talked endlessly about apertures and f-stops and it wasn’t long before I was hooked on photography too. Like so many other budding photographers, I was given my first professional photography job at my local newspaper. In 2004, I took my communications degree at the University of Winnipeg and studied creative communications at Red River College, majoring in broadcast. I worked as a journalist for the Winnipeg Sun and the CBC and studied black and white studio photography in my spare time.
In 2007, I moved to Japan where I edited and photographed for a not-for-profit magazine geared towards English teachers in Japan. I also continued to work on private video projects and write for various media outlets back in Canada.
Now that I have returned to Canada I am excited to get back into professional photography and work with some new clients on some great photos.
