Rainbow Cinema is a gem amongst the cookie-cutter, multi-screen megaplexes that have sprung up around the city. The place has character: in the lobby, a piano and an ever-changing display of art make waiting for the next show more bearable (and if that’s not enough, the pre-show entertainment consists of a kitschy Power Point slideshow packed with inspirational quotes and movie facts). This is a theatre that still has cheap Tuesdays, but it’s reasonably priced all week. Best of all, the popcorn is actually affordable: a real perk for movie and butter addicts alike.
