Russell Williams Family Restaurant originally opened in Hamilton in 1932 by Russell Williams, who owned the Bright Spot restaurant chain. The Aldershot location is the last and only one still open. It is believed to have opened sometime in the 1950s. Russell Williams passed the restaurant on to his daughter, Mona, in 1976. Russell Williams family eventually sold the business during the early 1980s. Ownership changes haven't deterred customers. Some have been walking through the restaurant's front door since Pierre Trudeau was prime minister or even just a cabinet minister.
