The history of Minoas Taverna began 35years ago when the Chronakis family emigrated from Greece and began new roots in British Columbia. With a growing family and an ambitious dream, they wanted their first home to be alive with their Greek ancestry. After long months of planning and remodeling, their home became Minoas Taverna!
Since opening Minoas Taverna on May.1,1986, the family owned and operated restaurant is complete with authentice Greek dishes, beautiful private rooms, and traditional yet unique atmosphere surrounded with Minoan art, Greek folk music, and Mediteranean plant life, The Chronakis family offer not only delicious food but a dining experience you will never forget! I went here with my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday. The restaurants decorations are somewhat over thhe top in regards to the sheer amount of them. There doesn't seem to be an empty space on the walls or celing, it's definately interesting decor. We ordered an appetizer to share, Dolmates which is vine leaves stuffed w/rice & ground beef. They were delicious with the right amount of spice the vince leaves were cooked but not soggy. For dinner we both ordered of seafood which is Prawn souvlaki,Calamari(fried),Red snapper, Calamari(garlic sauce) and served with Rice pilaf,roast potatoes,greek salad,tzatziki,vegetables & pita. Needless to say, it was ALOT of food, in hindsight, we could have shared one platter. The prawns we cooked perfectly not dried out and tasted very fresh. The calamari and red napped were also delicious, well seasoned and melt in your mouth fresh. We'll definately returnl
