Both Parklane and Casey van Maris (creator of Parklane) were founding members of the industry trade association, Landscape Ontario. One of the association’s initial goals was to create a benchmark for quality among the trade assisting clients with identifying trustworthy companies. Casey and a few other members of the fledgling association agreed that education from within was key to this goal. Over the years Landscape Ontario has developed numerous education and certification programs of which Parklane has been at the forefront. Casey, Anna, Alex and Monica have all offered numerous hours of volunteer time both teaching and coordinating educational programs within the association. Parklane believes that every property can be used to make a difference. Your garden can be a means for enjoyment as well as an environmental advantage. Parklane is a founding member of Landscape Ontario, and is an active member of L.O. and CNLA with professional standing. Upon his passing, an award was created in Casey’s honor. Each year one member company is honored with The Casey van Maris Award of Excellence for Creativity and Innovation. This award has become one of the most treasured awards within the industry – second only to the Dunnington-Grubb Award. The award reflects the way Parklane continues to strive to raise the bar within the industry.
