The Girard Family has enjoyed the Magnetawan River for 3 generation’s starting with my grandfather who came by steam locomotive called “The Hunters Train” for there were no roads remotely close to access this wilderness area. My father started coming at age 13 purchased this own camp in 1960. Enjoyed hunting, fishing, and basically all the beauty of untouched wilderness and loved & appreciated all it had to offer. I myself started this journey while still in diapers growing up glued to his side absorbing all the knowledge. I possibly could as it was all hands on-or passed down by word of mouth as there is no handbook written for this knowledge. Safety & Survival in the woods, identifying all the birds and animals of this area not only by sight but by subtle signs that they leave or just sitting back taking in the grandness of this land we as Canadians are blessed to enjoy any time we choose to. My goal is “to share this truly Canadian experience with others”.
