Serving the best East Indian, Kashmiri & Mughlai cuisine. Prepared by master chefs from India, enjoy specialties like the naan breads, tandoori meats, Maharajah’s leg of lamb, and a variety of curries that are mild, medium or spicy.
Round off the dining in the cool indoors with the popular Indian ice-cream – Kulfi,Masala Tea or cool lassi – a yogurt drink at our location. Most Indian cuisines are related by similiar usage of spices. Often, Indian cooking is distinguished by the use of a larger variety of vegetables than many other well-known cuisines.

Maharaja is tucked into the east side of Rocky Mountain Plaza in Downtown Calgary. It's conveniently located near Olympic Plaza, City Hall and the Downtown Library. While the decor is simple and plain, the food represents one of the better downtown values for lunch. They have all the Indian dining essentials including Butter Chicken and Beef and Lamb Curries, but also a few extra dishes. Most of the food is on the spicier side, so the more cautious eater will want to take care or take lots of rice or nan. The lunch buffet comes in two styles...a stay and all-you-can-eat for $14.95 or a take away box for $10 (including taxes). I like the take away box when I'm in a hurry and want to get back to work. Service is excellent, courteous and prompt. You can easily have lunch and make it back to work in an hour. Highly recommended!
