As a graduate from Wilfrid Laurier University, I hold a Masters of Social Work degree and have over 25 years of experience. I am registered with the College of Social Work and the Ontario Association of Social Workers. I am also a Field Practicum Instructor of Master of Social Work students and an affiliate counsellor/therapist for an employee and family assistance program. Much of my work has been in a hospital co-ordinating and facilitating programs for clients and their families, who have been impacted by addiction and/or mental health issues. Areas of expertise include substance abuse, co-dependency, anxiety, depression, parenting and older adult issues (substance abuse, life transitions). Treatment is client-centred, with various therapeutic approaches used to meet client's specific needs. Many health benefit plans cover services provided by a therapist with Master of Social Work accreditation.
