With over fifteen years experience Darlene is therapist who brings compassion and insight into her sessions with individuals, couples and families. She graduated in 2002 with a concentration in couple counselling as well as practical training in individual and couple work. She has maintained a private practice since 2002 while also working in a variety of therapeutic settings including running programs for the City of Ottawa and Family Services in community centres and schools across the city.
While in Melbourne Australia in 2005 Darlene worked in specialized pastoral care in an Acute Psychiatric Ward, a Mood Disorder Clinic and a Forensic Psychiatric Ward. Her work in Australia included training and supervising students in the clinical pastoral education program at a post graduate level and was part of planning and running conferences that addressed spirituality in mental health care. After her return to Ottawa she resumed her private practice and worked as a clinician for youth age 12-18 with exceptional psychosocial needs in secure treatment for over five years at the Roberts/Smart Centre. Darlene is now in private practice full time and is a supervisor for students in the masters of arts in counselling program at St Paul University while working on a PhD in expressive arts in therapy at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts and is bringing the expressive arts therapies into her practice as well as offering personal development and education through the arts in the various training locations and through workshops out of her studio.
