About me:
My name is Daniel, I recently moved back to my home town of Guelph, after graduating from the University of Ottawa in May, 2015. I graduated with honours in Environmental Science with a specialization in Geochemistry and Ecotoxicology. This degree focused on the effects of environmental contaminants on ecosystems and human health. My specialization required me to take plenty of chemistry courses including: Principles of chemistry, Organic chemistry I & II, Descriptive inorganic chemistry, Analytical chemistry, Environmental chemistry, Pesticides and the Environment, Geochemistry, and Ecotoxicology. I plan to continue my studies with a master’s degree in September, 2016. In the meantime I am offering a chemistry tutoring service in Guelph, Ontario. My service is great for students that require help comprehending abstract concepts and learning how to successfully understand and tackle chemical problems. For the students interested in pursuing science in university, I’d be glad to share my personal experiences on how to be successful, particularly in first year chemistry. My passion for chemistry and up-beat personality will create a positive study atmosphere and help students look forward to the tutoring session. I am patient, kind, and easy to talk to, and I will tailor my teachings in a way that tutees will comfortably understand, even when faced with the more challenging questions! Tutoring Approach: I teach with an emphasis on understanding. Building the foundations to understand why a problem happens the way it does allows students to thoroughly grasp how to go about solving it. Once the student understands how to properly start a question, solving the problem becomes easier. I also promote the development of critical thinking, by encouraging students to analyse chemistry in a deeper, more analytical manner. Fees: I charge $40 per hour for my expertise.
